xenical

Xenical is the only prescription treatment today that can help people to fight obesity, in particular, those with a BMI over 28.

  • The most effective treatment for weight loss
  • Reduction of 5 to 10% of your body weight
  • No side effects on the brain

What is Xenical Orlistat?

Manufactured by Roche Laboratories, Xenical (Orlistat) is currently one of the only prescription treatments to fight obesity, and is hence a weight loss drug. In particular, it works on people with a BMI over 28. Unlike other drugs for weight loss, Xenical is intended to act directly on the patient’s digestive tract. The other advantage of Orlistat compared to other treatments is that it does not affect the brain. The treatment does not impair the hormone balance, unlike hunger-suppressants or fat burners.

The treatment has the effect of preventing the accumulation of about 30% of the fat in each meal.

According to the clinical trials carried out for this drug, Orlistat has proven to be efficient by helping each patient to lose between 5 to 10% of their body weight.

This weight loss treatment is available in several boxes containing 84, 168 or 252 capsules.

How does Xenical Orlistat work?

There is no doubt that the best way to lose weight and maintain it over the long term is to eat a balanced diet and do regular physical activity. Developing a healthy and balanced lifestyle will help you to stay healthy. However, if your condition does not allow you to practice sports or, if you have been exercising but you are still unable to lose weight, using Xenical can help you lose weight and thus reduce your BMI. We wish to inform you that taking Xenical also requires the user to eat a healthy diet.

Xenical-Orlistat-Mechanism-of-action

As you can see from the diagram above, the treatment removes on average 33% of the fat in every meal. Science defines fat as molecules that are too large to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. To eliminate it, the human body must break down these molecules during the digestion process. Two enzymes are responsible for breaking down these molecules, gastric lipase and pancreatic lipases.

The solution is simple: fat must be prevented from ending up in the bloodstream.

But how is this done?

Roche Laboratories found the answer 20 years ago; to evacuate these fats through the faeces. By creating the active molecule Orlistat, Xenical reduces the absorption of fats from our diet and then acts as a powerful lipase inhibitor. By taking this treatment properly, patients can hence decrease their caloric intake at every meal. We all know that calorie reduction plays a major role in weight loss. This solution sounds simple, but it had never been developed before.

It is also important to remember that Xenical can be prescribed only if your BMI (Body Mass Index) is less than 28.

How do you calculate your BMI?

Weight ÷ height² : If you weigh 82kg and you are 1.65m tall, the calculation becomes 82 ÷ (1.65²) = 30.12 BMI

This formula, which allows you to calculate your BMI, is only applicable to the population aged between 18 and 65 years. Children, the elderly and pregnant women cannot apply this formula. For others, here is a brief summary of BMI.

Xenical Online: How do you calculate your BMI

BMI less than 18.5==> Underweight
BMI between 18.5 and 24.9==> Normal
BMI between 25 and 29.9==> Overweight
BMI greater than 30==> Obese
BMI greater than 40==> Morbidly obese

As you can see, Xenical 120mg is a relatively heavy treatment and is not to be taken lightly. Doctors advise that you should only take this treatment if you have already tried dieting, practising sports or changing your lifestyle. Therefore, this treatment is occasionally a last resort to lose weight.

In contrast, patients wishing to treat themselves for being slightly overweight, but who are still maintaining an unhealthy diet, cannot be prescribed Xenical.

What is Xenical’s active ingredient?

Xenical’s active ingredient is Orlistat. It belongs to the group of anti-obesity medicines, in particular, the category of gastrointestinal lipases enzymes inhibitors. The treatment aims to act locally in the gut. It will counter the lipase enzymes and prevent the weakening of fat in the intestine. After this, the patient’s body can no longer digest these fats, and it will be impossible for him to digest calories.

Orlistat will thus take therapeutic action in the stomach lumen and the small intestine of the user’s body. This action will then form a covalent bond with the active serine site of gastric and pancreatic lipases.

As well as Orlistat, which is the main active ingredient, 120mg Xenical consists of other components:

Indigo carmineMicrocrystalline cellulose
GelatinePovidone K30

Sodium starch glycolate

The studies

Like all prescription treatments, Xenical underwent extensive testing before approval to be made available in pharmacies. In 1998, the treatment was approved by the American authorities (FDA) and subsequently by the EMEA (European Medical Agencies).

The drug, therefore, benefits from around 20 years of clinical experience in both the US and Europe. Nearly 40 million patients worldwide have tried and tested the treatment.

Various studies have been conducted over two years to study the efficacy of Xenical. Two groups, practising a low-calorie diet were analysed, one under Orlistat treatment, the other simply using a placebo. After 12 weeks of study, the results showed that 37% of patients in the treatment group on Xenical lost 5% of their original weight, against only 19% for the placebo group. After one year, these numbers increase: 49% of patients belonging to the Xenical treatment group showed a loss of 10% of their body weight against 40% for placebo.

Xenical Orlistat Studies Body Weight

Xenical 120mg is, therefore, more effective than the placebo in aiding a patient’s weight loss. The people who took the treatment three times a day lost an average of 6.1kg a year, compared to 2.6kg a year on placebo.

Jarl Torgerson S. et al. Dia Care © 2004 by American Diabetes Association

These results show two main trends, the first is that Xenical is actually effective in weight loss, the second is that a sustained calorie diet also causes a decrease in body mass when the patient is overweight.

What is the difference between Xenical and Reductil?

Both drugs are prescription treatments for weight loss. Unlike Xenical, Reductil is a psychological treatment acting directly on the brain of the patient. It affects the entire central nervous system. After carrying out various studies, the European Medicines Agency considers Reductil to be a dangerous drug that increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Studies on Xenical have shown that the drug posed no danger to the patient.

What is the dosage of the treatment?

The treatment is to be taken three times a day. It is recommended that the patient takes it with a little water during, or slightly after, meals. If you consume a particularly low-fat meal, please do not take the pill.

How to take Xenical
How to take Xenical?

There are no particular limitations for taking Xenical, and it can be taken just before, during, or even one hour after the meal. If you forget to take a pill, doctors simply recommend resuming the schedule at the next meal.

It is important to note that the treatment only works in the presence of fat in the meal. This means that if for some reason, you miss another meal, it is unnecessary to take the treatment, as it will have no effect on weight loss.

Warning: taking Xenical alone will not get you the desired results. If you really want to lose weight, you must also follow a suitable, low-calorie diet. Also, be aware that increasing the number of tablets does not allow you to lose more weight.

Disadvantages and side effects of Xenical (120 mg)

Xenical Orlistat Tablets
Xenical Orlistat Tablets

By preventing fat from passing through intestinal absorption, the drug evacuates it via the faeces. Most side effects and drawbacks, therefore, concern gastrointestinal areas and intestinal disorders, which are the most frequent. These disorders often occur during the first months of treatment and tend to fade away eventually, and completely disappear after several weeks’ treatment.

You will have possibly steatorrhea, or greasy diarrhoea, which can be annoying but painless. They do not cause abdominal problems. In addition, you may be subject to faecal incontinence and urgent diarrhoea. Therefore, if you take an oral contraceptive method, you should consider another method of contraception. Diarrhoea can be accompanied by flatulence with fatty deposits on the anus, while tympanites, stomach aches, and pains or rectal discomfort have also been independently observed.

Rectal bleeding may also be observed. If this persists, clinical examinations should be performed.

One of the direct consequences of taking Xenical treatment for obesity is also the lowering of lipid levels, and thus low blood sugar and fatigue, which patients will notice in the first weeks of treatment. Adverse effects can also be caused if you do not follow a low-calorie diet, or if you consume too much fat in one single meal. Stomach-aches, meteorisms, and acute abdominal pain can occur when the time comes to evacuate the fat.

Other side effects have been noted; Xenical can cause some types of infections, such as urinary tract and respiratory tract infections. Xenical may affect your menstrual cycle by unbalancing the hormonal system.

By acting on the metabolic pathways and gastrointestinal mechanisms, Xenical is not advised for people with a history of bowel disease and problems with the gastrointestinal tract:

  • Inflammatory diseases such Crohn’s disease
  • People with chronic malabsorption syndromes, i.e. the inability of the gut to absorb food, including the essential vitamins to human health. It is a rare disease in the small intestine.

Some biliary diseases are also not advised to take Xenical, such as cholestasis or people affected by jaundice. Cholestasis is a decrease in bile secretion, which can result in jaundice.

In addition, pregnant women, and those wishing to become so should also stop taking Xenical, as well as nursing women when breastfeeding.

Based on numerous scientific studies, there is a very low and very rare risk—albeit serious—of developing liver complications after taking the treatment. If clinical signs occur, stop taking Xenical and seek medical attention:

  • severe fatigue all day for several consecutive days
  • Yellowing of the skin and / or eyes
  • Sore violent stomach and liver tenderness.

There is also a risk of kidney failure related to taking Xenical. Again, this risk is extremely rare and a simple clinical examination is enough to make sure that you can take this obesity treatment without risk.

Finally, drug interactions should be noted.

Xenical is not compatible with certain substances in other medicines, whether they reduce the activity of this treatment or whether Xenical interferes with the effectiveness of other treatments, people taking these other medicines need to be monitored especially.

This is the case for patients taking antiepileptic drugs because Xenical tablets will reduce the anticonvulsant effects of these drugs.

Similarly, patients treated with cyclosporine will have to regularly check their plasma, as the active ingredient of this diet treatment will decrease the effectiveness of immunosuppressive cyclosporine.

People taking an anticoagulant treatment based on warfarin, in particular, must be monitored and must check their coagulation parameters frequently.

Type 2 diabetics should be subject to increased monitoring because Xenical affects the acarbose-based drug that they take, as it reduces its effectiveness.

Finally, in the context of a balanced diet that should accompany Xenical treatment, we recommend a high intake of vitamins A, D, E, K, which are fat-soluble vitamins and which, because of the inhibitive activity of this slimming treatment, cannot be absorbed by the body. Deficiencies can be found, and can be countered through enhanced vitamin intake via a high consumption of fruits and vegetables, or through vitamin supplements. These should preferably be swallowed before bedtime, or at least two hours after the last tablet containing orlistat was ingested.

What are the contraindications?

The medication is strongly discouraged for people allergic to the active ingredient, Orlistat, or other ingredients in the medication. Xenical is also contraindicated for pregnant women or women trying to get pregnant. Only women and men over 18 can take the drug. We remind you that to take the medication, your body mass index should be greater than 28. If your BMI is below that level, taking Xenical may cause more side effects. BMI will be controlled by the physician during the medical examination, at the meeting or during the medical consultation remotely. If your BMI is below 28, the doctor will not allow you to take the treatment.

What is the effect of Xenical 120mg on diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol?

Effects on type 2 diabetes

According to clinical studies, we see that 90% of the obese population is also suffering from type 2 diabetes, and the link between obesity is type 2 diabetes is obvious. This link is naturally explained by the fact that obese people often tend to consume large amounts of sugar. High sugar levels in the body can actually unbalance the evolution and especially premature onset of diabetes in the patient.

It is important to note that Xenical can be perfectly suitable for people with type 2 diabetes. The treatment has the effect of regulating the glucose level in patients. For more information, Alfadoc invites you to read the study on the impact of Xenical on type 2 diabetes.

Effects on blood pressure

Obesity is not just a problem of appearance but is sadly also a health problem that can be relatively very serious if left untreated.

In many cases, obese people also suffer health concerns related to blood, especially high blood pressure. As the name suggests, hypertension is summarised by abnormally high blood pressure in the body, and then generates hypertrophy. In short, the consequences of high blood pressure are that it creates grease plugs in the arteries. If grease caps are too high, the blood cannot flow normally in the arteries. The pressure becomes too great, and the artery can rupture, thus causing paralysis in some cases, and death in the most extreme cases.

The benefit of using Xenical treatment is not just to lose weight but also to reduce the amount of fat in the body and therefore in the arteries. The use of Xenical can have beneficial effects on the reduction and control of hypertension.

18+How should it be stored?

Xenical Orlistat is a prescription drug manufactured by Roche laboratories, it must be kept in a secure place out of the sight and reach of children. We remind you to check the expiration date on the packaging of the drug before use. If the latter is exceeded, please submit the treatment to the nearest pharmacy to you. The pharmacist will be responsible for recycling the treatment. For environmental conservation reasons, we thank you for not throwing the medication in the household waste.

How do I buy Xenical 120mg online & in UK?

prescription

To start using the treatment, which will help you lose weight, you must first get yourself a prescription. In order to minimise potential side effects, a medical examination should be conducted.

Buy Xenical in a UK pharmacy

To do this, you can go to your doctor, get a prescription and then buy Xenical in a pharmacy. This method is now the most common, but it can be quite restrictive.

Buy Xenical online

If your schedule does not work out, you can also buy Xenical online, i.e. at specialised clinics.

Some of them allow you to conduct a medical examination online, which is then reviewed and verified by a doctor. If your condition and your health permit, you can buy Xenical online. You will receive the treatment 24 to 48 hours later, at your home.

Buying Xenical online is, therefore, a real advantage for patients who already use such treatment. Those familiar with the treatment know the potential side effects and, finally, know if they are compatible with the drug. Renewal of the treatment can, therefore, be carried out without any difficulty.

It is important to note that buying Xenical online should only be done through trusted websites. We ask you to verify the clinic where you are planning to order your medication. Firstly, you should check whether the clinic has a physical pharmacy responsible for sending drugs to patients. The second step is to check the reputation of the clinic on the Internet. If the clinic is reliable you will have no difficulty accessing patient reviews.

The legislation on the purchase of prescription drugs within the European Union differs. Some countries like England or Germany allow you to purchase drugs online. Others, like Spain or Ireland, prohibit it. You need to check with your health agency whether or not you can order Xenical on the Internet.

What is the price of Xenical online &  in UK?

As explained above, the drug requires a prescription to be purchased in pharmacies. The price of Xenical may be regarded by some users as relatively high, however, several factors must be taken into consideration. Unlike many diet pills available without a prescription Xenical was the subject of numerous clinical studies. The efficacy of the treatment Orlistat 120mg has been demonstrated and proven. Users taking the medication correctly, and who respect an appropriate lifestyle, lose weight.

Regarding its price, Xenical belonging to the class of medications available only on prescription, so pharmacies are free to apply the price they want. Also, note that the medicine is not reimbursed by social security.

Xenical Price: Buy in a UK pharmacy

In a pharmacy, Xenical 120mg prices can vary from £59.90 to £89.90 for 84 capsules; namely, one month of treatment. It is necessary to add the price of your doctor’s consultation to this cost.

Xenical Price: Buy online

Online, the price of Xenical is relatively more expensive, it varies from £59 to £90 for 1 month of treatment.

Caution: Beware of sites offering promotions online such as “cheap Xenical” or “cheaper Xenical”. The websites offering you abnormally low prices for the diet drug are certainly selling counterfeit medication.

Note that, in all cases, even if purchasing or ordering Xenical online offers many benefits, Alfadoc always recommends that you carry out a medical consultation with your doctor to get the prescription. If you must go to your doctor to get the prescription, take the opportunity also to undertake a comprehensive review of your health.

What you need to know before you buy Xenical 120mg Online or in a UK pharmacy

Your BMI must be greater than 28

Once again, doctors only prescribe the treatment to patients with a BMI greater than 28. Below this, other methods are recommended and more adapted to help you lose weight.

You must change your eating habits

People thinking that simply buying Xenical 120mg will allow them to lose weight are mistaken. So that weight loss is sustainable and effective, you must also change your eating habits; that is, eat healthier, less fatty foods, and also practice sports regularly. Taking the treatment will not allow you to eat anything you want; nor should you think that Xenical will remove all of your fat by the next day.

You cannot take Xenical without a prescription

Even if you can find ways on the internet to obtain the treatment without a prescription, you should definitely ask your doctor for advice. Only a medical examination will allow the doctor to ensure that you can take the treatment without problems.

You must feel ready to change your life

As you may have read earlier, Orlistat treatment is relatively expensive, and it is to be taken for a minimum period of 3 months. You must be prepared to spend several hundreds of euros on treatment and, most importantly, improve your lifestyle.

Alfadoc’s advice about Xenical Online

What diet should I follow while taking the treatment?

Like any weight loss method, Xenical 120mg treatment will only work if it is combined with a healthy diet and sport. You must thus follow a light hypocaloric diet. According to patients, some decide to combine taking Xenical with the Weight Watcher diet.

Many patients wonder about the real reasons for how you lose weight. In fact, if you take the treatment, and you follow a diet, and you exercise, you have to wonder what actually helps you lose weight, is the treatment? Is that the diet? is this sport?

The answer is relatively simple: if you follow a mild hypocaloric diet, you will effectively decrease the possible side effects of Xenical, which can be heavy. The Weight Watcher system asks you to count the number of calories you consume each day. By reducing calories, eating more fruits and vegetables, and especially by drinking large amounts of water every day you will eliminate toxins faster.

You must manage your meals, and avoid high fat intake

If you follow Orlistat treatment correctly, macronutrient requirements, (i.e. healthy fats, carbohydrates and proteins) must be organised properly for the 3 main meals of the day. Doctors strongly recommend their patients to avoid peak fat intake. Beyond 15 grammes of fat per meal, you may experience side effects with the treatment.

If you’re really hungry between meals, you should really avoid sugary drinks and other snacks that are very rich in fat. It is recommended that you eat fruit, especially apples.

Play sports

We cannot say this enough: practising sport is good for your health. It helps to eliminate toxins and fats at all levels, it maintains the organs—especially the heart—and, above all, it helps you feel better, in both your body and your mind.

Regarding physical activities to practice, everything depends on you, the goal is absolutely not to make you hate sport.

If you’re really not a great athlete, you can simply start by walking more. If you take the bus or subway, from time to time, trying to get off a stop ahead and doing the rest on foot. If you are in the habit of taking the elevator or the escalator, try to climb the steps.

If you are relatively sporty, try to increase the pace, going to the gym more or go running a bit more often. Like any endurance activity, running is a great way to lose weight. If you do not like running, you may prefer to practice rowing or cycling.

To motivate you, even more, to move and play sports, treat yourself or get yourself a connected object, like a watch. These new connected watches are not just gadgets, they help you further analyse your activity in real time, some of them even alert you when it’s time to move after a long time of inactivity.

You will see after a few months of sport, a healthy diet and treatment, you will feel much better physically and mentally. You will have more energy; energy that will need to be consumed by sport and so on. You will understand that it is an essential cycle to start.

I’m overweight for a long time, I tried lots of diets but every time stones are coming back after a few months, something is wrong with me. I Was Told about xenical, It Seems to Work but I’m afraid of the side effects, what is the solution?

Emma · March 22, 2017 at 10:42 pm

Hello Ethan. If you follow a low-calorie diet rigorously whilst taking Xenical, you’ll only experience mild side effects.

Charlotte · March 24, 2017 at 8:49 pm

I took the treatment for 5 months and I lost a lot of weight. I still have a few kilos to go but it’s worked. Like you said in this article, I followed a strict diet and did sport as well as taking the treatment. As for side effects, they’ve been very mild. I know for certain that they can be worse but I think that it depends on what you eat. You won’t have a problem if you eat healthily and in small amounts.

This medication has helped me lose a lot of weight. I took it for a few months, I don’t know how long exactly. It’s really effective – maybe even too effective sometimes. Everything comes out in the loo so you have to be careful about what you eat. You pay the price if you eat too much greasy food whilst using xenical so you should eat healthily if you don’t want to regret it.

Brooke · April 17, 2017 at 11:27 am

this is an extreme medication but it’s by far the most effective for me. I lost almost 4 stone in 4 months. If you follow the instructions and be careful whilst eating healthily and doing sport then you start to lose weight. The more you lose, the more you want to lose.

Mary · April 18, 2017 at 9:30 pm

it’s true that Xenical’s side effects can get very bad, but like you say, you just have to eat healthily to avoid most of them. As for the treatment working and making you lose weight, I think it’s the best one.

Clem · May 9, 2017 at 9:39 pm

I took it for 4 weeks but I stopped as I couldn’t stand the side effects. Like you say in the article you have to be prepared to eat better which wasn’t the case for me. It never worked. I managed to lose half a stone. I think xenical is definitely effective but you have to use it in the right conditions.

Isla · May 17, 2017 at 8:54 pm

this is a medication that works. There’s no doubt it helps you to lose weight but it’s a bit too much for me. It asks a lot of you and the side effects are too off-putting in my opinion. I took xenical for a few weeks but I didn’t carry on taking it. I lost a bit of money but it doesn’t matter – I’ve told myself I’ll manage to lose weight another way.

Sophie · June 28, 2017 at 8:56 pm

my thoughts about xenical are generally positive even though the last 5 months have been the hardest of my life. I had to renounce so many things and make so many sacrifices and concessions, but I was truly motivated to lose weight. The only thing I was thinking about was losing weight. I think that if you try hard enough you can do it. I really started to see the results after 2 months. Side effects got milder and easier to deal with as I went along so I continued to take it. I’m now at the end of the treatment and it’s worked – I’ve lost 3 stone. I’m no longer the same person. As well as the treatment working, I’ve changed my lifestyle, I eat better, I move more – these are the most important things at the end of the day. Only take this treatment if you’re ready and you really want to lose weight, otherwise you will probably fail and have a very negative experience.
